bombs are going back and forth in the middle east, blagojevich made a senate appointment anyway (spoiled defiant brat), yellowstone is having earthquakes . . .  but you know–   the snow is coming down . . . .

nicknames–

kathleen’s calling me frank-en-ear, my daughter-in-law is calling me floppy and my brother is calling me zipperhead–  oh well, let’s hope that this does the trick, as further steps are destructive to hearing–

and i would definitely hate to have to get used to this “man of constant sorrow” haircut–

medical term for the day–

“endolymphatic sac decompression

this surgery involves drilling away the bone overlying the endolymphatic sac to make a larger “cavity” for the sac to occupy.”

i had the pleasure of repeating the term for several staff at our local hospital today and then they kindly demonstrated the procedure on me–

i just wonder if when i was out, whether or not i was having nightmares of sarah palin stating “drill baby drill” and then giving a little wink

36 hours . . .

i started the ordeal looking out the window and taking pictures of the doves which were gathered on and around our picnic table–

thirty six hours later the bed had finally stopped spinning and we were in the middle of a snow storm–

tune in next week for more excitement from where the world turns . . . .

yet even with a knock out snow storm, the gathering still continues–

the geek factor

i have recently become an ardent fan of paul and storm podcasts–  i heard about these guys through a recent post on crooks and liars of their pillsbury cookie dough commercial–  awesome!!!  of course then i moved through the youtube files and wandered into the da vinci’s notebook files etc. etc.– 

i have always thought that music should have a touch of humor in it (arlo guthrie, loudon wainwright III, ed sanders and the fugs, tom rapp)–  it is good to see folks still doing this with folk guitars in hand–

i have been trying to catch up with all their podcasts (and they deserve some credit here because their podcasts are the first that i have listened to without video) and i should be listening to their latest later today–  of course then i have to catch up with everything else on their site–

the weird thing is–  i have never been a “geek”–  perhaps i was in my earlier school days–  but i quickly grew my hair long and ingested large quantities of drugs to give the appearance of just how “cool” i was–  peer pressure to the max in my neighborhood–  i was so far out that most of the rougher crowd was scared to go near me– 

of course i grew up in the early seventies and these guys seem a little younger so . . .  perhaps with computers, video games etc. being geek became more cool–  who woulda thunk it?–
