katrina– a sad anniversary
an excellent article on slate last night by fred kaplan–
“What a Moronic Presidential Press Conference!
Among the many flabbergasting answers that President Bush gave at his press conference on Monday, this one—about Democrats who propose pulling out of Iraq—triggered the steepest jaw drop: “I would never question the patriotism of somebody who disagrees with me. This has nothing to do with patriotism. It has everything to do with understanding the world in which we live.”
George W. Bush criticizing someone for not understanding the world is like … well, it’s like George W. Bush criticizing someone for not understanding the world. It’s sui generis: No parallel quite captures the absurdity so succinctly.” read more
this is probably one of the best articles that i have read about the chimp lately and along with the picture it just packs a good punch– of course, i am tempted to take a pin to his cheeks to see if his head will explode, but i guess that only works in cartoons– then again . . .
continuing from the previous post . . . of course, in a land where the commander in chimp thumbs his nose at the constitution and the american people, maybe it shouldn’t be so surprizing to me that americans have no conscience and no respect for the law– i mean, shit . . . if george can do it . . .
haven’t the headlines been hopping with this dickheads exploits lately??? i mean, take your pick– preparing with israel for an attack on hezbollah before hezbollah even committed the kidnapping– yeah, that’s a good one– check it out at the bbc–
and is the asshole in fact breaking the law??? read about it and listen to a clip at crooks and liars–
and about the terrorists and the airplanes after the lieberman defeat– follow the links kids– you know, sometimes i think that george must have got his ass whipped playing “risk” with his brothers so many times and now he’s taking it out on the rest of the world–
as it has been said before– someone please give the man a blow-job!!!
i never really thought about this sensationalized case nor did i follow it much except when looking at the tabloids in the supermarket checkout aisles– personally, i always had a hard time with the fact that the parents put their daughter in this position– i guess all parents want to show off their kids in one way or another, but the way this child was used and displayed disgusted me and even now (if) they have finally got the killer, i can’t help but think that the parents share (or shared) some of the responsibility–
even more importantly, i have always had a hard time accepting that someone could do something this wrong and then not admit to it– how does someone just walk away from this??? is there no conscience? no soul?
i know from personal mistakes that i made many years ago when i was younger that honesty is more important to be at ease with one’s own soul– i knew as a teen and when asked by a judge about my innocence, i pleaded guilty and went so far as to further incriminate myself by telling the truth– pssst. it had to do with drugs but don’t tell anyone– yup, there goes my chance for public office– i find it incomprehensible that someone can just walk away from this– is there no conscience? no soul? forget about conservative and liberal for a minute– whatever happened to truth???
